We rode the Silverton Railroad Polar Express. Now it was pricey, but it was well-done. So that made it worth it. And it was short, which is a bonus when its cold.
The whole train station was decorated. It had all the cute touches that made it so fun. I like the North Pole Sign.
My mom bought us all Santa hats to wear while on the train. As we waited Jacob made tons of faces. Both he and Ashton snuck their stuffed dogs by hiding them in their shirts. Jacob placed his so only his snout stuck out.
The train is a full fledged steam locomotive, and it belched tons of black smoke while pulling in. My kids loved watching that train arrive. Jacob was so excited! Trains to a five-year old are the bees knees.
All the workers dressed up. They greeted kids and were very friendly and cute.
And we all got our gold ticket.
Jake was my seat buddy and we had the luck to sit in front of these two goof-balls.

Jed spent most of the time pestering us with Ashton's stuffed pug, Bully. Sometimes that dog is so annoying but most often Ashton is super cute with him.
The North Pole area was pretty big and had some fake buildings in it. And it had real people dressed as elves (poor them) and Santa's sleigh.
The conductor came by and punched all our tickets while we sat. I had an S and Jacob had a B.
We listened to the story, drank hot chocolate, ate cookies, and then sang carols. At the North Pole we picked up Santa.
He came by on the way back and talked to each child and gave them a silver bell.
Ashton wanted a picture with Bully.
I got a nice selfie by Jed.
We noticed the conductor punching tickets so we went over and got our finished.
Santa, Elf, and Believe. We then went to back to Cortez. The next day we traveled to Blanding and spent the next few days with Jed's family
Jed's mom and dad serve as part of the Temple Presidency. So Beverly kinda watched our boys while Jed, Jim, and I went with Emma to do baptisms for the dead. It was her first time. It was very exciting for her. Sadly, Beverly had to leave our boys alone in the waiting room. It's the best story ever. I came in to find them playing loudly - we were lucky and the guy at the front desk near them was almost deaf. They were loud! They had drawn on every scrap of paper they could find, smudged pencil all over the tables, taken all the kleenex out of the boxes to make towers, and had rearranged the chairs to be a spaceship. If only camera were allowed! We cleaned it up, got hand sanitizer to clean the pencil smudges off the table, and got outa there.
Jed's siblings Spencer, his two boys, Tami and Ken and their family, and Kisti and Matt and kids all showed up for New Year's to see him. He really should be flattered that they love him so much even though he never calls them!
And of course we went sledding out at the fields. There are no hills so we adults drove the four-wheelers and pulled sledders around. It was tons of fun.
Jacob enjoyed making snow angels and eating snow.
Jed even went. But he was so big that the sled sank pretty deep into the snow. That made riding it interesting. I even enjoyed going.
