So we went to some kind of John Deere Days - 50th anniversary of some model tractor. It was at the county fairgrounds and seemed like it would be fun. 
The main attraction for me was a tour of their factory. They would not let us take pictures, but we all stood in line for the bus ride to the factory. And it was super cool. That factory is quite amazing - they have automated machines, lights and alarms that sound when a worker puts his hand on the wrong tool or picks up a wrong part, the big benches that carry the tractors around as they add parts to them move on their own through the factory. No assembly line like I see in pictures. All automated and computer timed. Super, super cool set-up. No wonder pictures are not allowed. Don't want anyone copying their line style.
Needless to say my kids were not all thrilled with the day. Emma was game for anything and liked getting a cool button.
But Ash wore this scowl the whole time. It was too cold, he couldn't sit by me, it was too boring, he was too tired. Whatever... so eventually we left.
They had a tractor parade of all kinds of tractors, old and new
Outside were all kinds of John Deere stuff - even bike lawnmowers - that were made over the years. They were fun to look at.
And Ashton turned six. I can never get a good smile for the camera. Isn't he cute? And he looks so grown up now. Love that little guy...
